Our Approach

North Arrow Landscapes specializes in the design and installation of beautiful, diverse, and functional landscapes.

What is your approach to landscape design?

Our landscape design principles are focused on finding ways to integrate the designed environment into a natural ecosystem. We embrace creative and practical challenges and approach all our projects with the same commitment to quality and aesthetics.

IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS: We recognize and value the nuances of design, and our landscapes explore the less obvious or tangible ways we can create and discover joy.

Our team also understands the importance of properly allocating time and project funds. We provide detailed estimates and can help schedule a project in phases to make the best use of your available time and budget.

What makes North Arrow stand out from the crowd?

First of all: we're a passionate team!

When you hire North Arrow Landscapes, you'll be taking full advantage of our team’s collective academic experience, horticultural, and construction expertise artistry, and our abundant creative energy.

Perhaps most importantly, when our clients speak, we listen. Our work means little if we’re not fulfilling your needs, and we know that by aligning your wishes with our expertise, we can achieve amazing results.

We also firmly believe that everyone deserves a beautiful garden. There is no wrong lot size, bad location, or poor geography. Any space can be packed full of hidden potential for beautiful, functional landscaping.

Landscape Design Benefits

A professionally-designed landscape is more than a pretty picture. There are also practical, ecological, and lifestyle benefits found within thoughtful landscape designs.

Practical benefits

A well-designed, beautifully-built landscape adds tangible value to your home and makes a statement to the world around you.

Your garden boosts curb appeal, greatly improves the aesthetic of your neighbourhood, and has a positive physiological effect on your day-to-day experience with your home.

Within certain parameters, a high maintenance garden can mean there are flaws in the design. A professional landscape design will save time, energy, and money otherwise spent on landscape maintenance and material inputs like irrigation water and fertilizer.

Ecological benefits

A diverse garden provides valuable habitat and forage to insects and birds, including many pollinator species. The dense planting style found in many of our designs also protects and nurtures the soil biome.

Incorporating trees within your landscape design provides shade, which reduces the local ambient temperature while creating valuable habitat.

By minimizing non-permeable surfaces such as concrete in our landscapes, we can reduce storm water run-off and help re-integrate rainwater into the water table.

Lifestyle benefits

Our landscape designs create welcoming and functional spaces for enjoyment, relaxation, and entertainment. They invite nature and wildlife into our lives.

We can blend plants and hardscape elements in order to produce a desired result. Our landscapes can lighten our moods and calm us, or they can energize us. They can invite us to linger, or move us toward an intended destination. They can encourage socializing, or reward solitude.

Gardens and green spaces help ease our stress, clear our minds, and connect us with nature.
